Who can post pictures on RacePix365.com?
RacePix365.com is open to "Sideline Snappers" of all abilities. The range of people that have shared their work on RacePix365.com during the first 3 months stretches from friends, family members and club mates of those taking part to hobby photographers and sports photographers. Top of the range cameras to camera phones have been used for sharing pictures. We welcome photographers of all standards to the site.
The next time you have a batch of pictures from your local race or track event, I hope you might consider sharing both your work and your talent with the athletic world at large.
I took part in a race that is on RacePix365.com. How come there are no pictures of me?
RacePix365.com can not guarantee that everyone will get caught on camera during a race. Only photos shared by you, the RacePix365.com, community will appear on the site. Some people may go snap happy at a race and upload hundreds of pictures, while others may choose to upload some of their best work from a race for people to see.
Will RacePix365.com be covering my race?
As the photo content on RacePix365.com is 100% user generated I can never be totally sure whether there will or will not be photos shared from a given race. I generally have a good idea of what races I know will have photos appearing from in the future and these are marked in the "Future Races". Quite often I will only find out about photos from races after the event has taken place.
I have photos. How do I get them onto RacePix365.com
A more comprehensive guide is available in our "How it works" section but I'll deal with this quickly here.
- Firstly check RacePix365.com for the race tag for your race. If the race is not on the site then Contact me and I'll set it up. You'll find the unique race tag for each race at the bottom of the gallery pages.
- Tag all your pictures with RacePix365 and the unique race tag.
- Tag each picture with the bib numbers of those visible in the photo. Personally I prefer to do this all before uploading and use a program called itag to do this. All photos can be tagged once uploaded also.
- Head on over to Flickr.com and upload your photos.
That's it. Your photos should now display on RacePix365.com. Please note that there is a few day delay on photos from new flickr accounts appearing on the site. Once that cooling period on new accounts passes you won't have any further delays.
Does RacePix365.com sell the photos?
RacePix365.com does not sell photos. The copyright of the images displayed on RacePix365.com remains at all times to the photographer who took and supplied the picture. Please see our terms for more details.
So the photos are free?
Not quite. As mentioned above the copyright of the photo belongs to the photographer. Different photographers understandably treat their work differently. Some may be willing to pass on the original photos free of charge while others may charge. They're free to do so.
It's simple to get in touch with whoever submitted a picture to RacePix365.com. Under each photo there is link to the original photo on Flickr.com as well as the photographers name.
RacePix365.com is a platform for photographers who take pictures at athletics events and who might like to display their work to a wider audience.
I have more questions...
No problem. Jump into the Contact page and send me a mail. I'll deal with it and if I hear the same question frequently I'll pop it up here.
